Good to talk
James is 19 and from Scotland. In this video, he calmly and clearly argues for the legalisation of all illegal substances and a social policy that leads to the creation of a just and equal society.
What I personally take away from this video is how constructive it is. It's not reactionary or couched in fear. Agree with it or not, the views expressed are done in a way that is unafraid to engage in pragmatic discussion about the endemic use of drugs in society, its root cause and how we make things better.
When we think about the recent silencing of David Nutt and his colleagues by the Home Office, a clip like this begs the question, what is the government so afraid of?

I agree there is difficulty with legalising drugs, nevertheless I would predict a short burst of more people trying drugs followed by a decline onto current levels. I feel that it would take a while for the taboo levels of drug taking to drop also, as it is likley that health risks will still be highlighted in education and parents will still advise their children against drug taking.
I don't believe young people do think about taking the ramifications of taking cocaine, it is much like eating meat, when you purchase the product you are removed from the circumstances of its creation.
There must however be an apology on my part as all other Teen Speech Video Responses that I make will likely end in similar conclusions that we need socio-economic reform. I hope that it does not get so boring.
Thanks James.
