Hello
Hello and welcome to The Teens' Speech blog. A place dedicated to discussing issues of significance to young people in particular and the nation as a whole.
Over the next few months, we'll be getting to grips with the increasingly frayed edges of family in 21st century Britain; the meaning of relationships in the age of MSN Messenger, MySpace and Facebook; the demonisation and scapegoating of teenagers by mainstream politics; being of healthy mind and body in a world where peer pressure can so easily lead you down the wrong path, and with less money and more financial insecurity than we've had for nearly a generation, how are young people coping and what kind of future do they imagine they'll inherit?
This blog is the still point around which everything spins. Video exclusives and outtakes, user submitted films, MySpace poll results, headlines and interesting articles, pictures of me holidaying in Spain. Ok, no pictures of me in Spain. But, you get the idea. Everything that happens in the name of The Teens' Speech will make its way here and, together, we'll attempt to find the answers to some of these very pressing issues.

And of course, keep in touch with me on this blog, via RSS, Twitter or the old fashioned way - a bookmark and a daily click at lunchtime. Or the evening. Whenever you like, really. Its completely up to you.
I'll leave you with a video outtake of Sam, a teenager from London, who delivers an impassioned, eloquent and rather touching plea for tolerance between the generations. I really couldn't have put it better myself. And that's kind of the point.
It's refreshing to see young people being allowed to have their own say rather than adults speaking on their behalf (as they so often do). I'm looking forward to seeing what is said.
